About the Muslim Alliance of Indiana
After the events of 9/11, misinformation regarding Muslims and Islam rapidly spread throughout the nation and Indiana alike. A small group of leaders within the Muslim Hoosier community realized the most effective path to dispel these misconceptions was to bring Muslim Hoosiers together through civic engagement.
From this small group, the Muslim Alliance of Indiana was born. Since its inception, MAI has consistently worked for an Indiana that not only ensures social justice for Muslims, but for all Hoosiers. We recognize in connecting Muslims, we reignite those tenets of our faith that lead us to serve and to dedicate ourselves to a better world. We are committed to developing educational, social and outreach programs that foster cooperation and understanding both with other religious communities and civic and service organizations.
